Impulse Equestrian, Tanisha Ryan

My name is Tanisha Ryan, and I am a 22-year-old professional Dressage rider located near Wollongong NSW. I have been riding and training in Dressage for nearly 11 years now after first finding my passion for the sport atop my quarter horse x appaloosa, Northern Lights, who I trained through the levels to Grand Prix.

Originally, I wanted to be a show jumper but thanks to my first coach I found the ‘bug’ for Dressage, and it’s been a crazy ride since then! Northern Lights and myself competed nationally at Grand Prix before he retired at 21 years old, while I continued aboard my other horses. It was during this journey that I founded my own teaching and riding business, Impulse Equestrian!

Currently, I have a team of four performance horses which include the Prix St George level Jembrae Rattle N Hum, Grand Prix level Prequel, six-year-old Sevenoaks Fenrys and six-year-old German imported mare, Severina. My wonderful team of horses and myself travel across Australia, attending many CDIs, national and state Dressage competitions.

Some of our most heartfelt and exciting achievements include:

• 2023 Sydney CDI Under 25 Grand Prix Champion with Prequel
• 2022 ACT Canberra Classic Young Rider Preliminary Champion with Severina.
• 2022 NSW Dressage Championships Reserve Open Novice Champion with Sevenoaks Fenrys.

To be able to compete and train in Dressage every day and on a professional status has been a dream of mine for many, many years and to have it as a reality is extremely exciting.

Ultimately, my dream is to compete overseas and to represent Australia at the Olympics and at the World Equestrian Games.

Nearly two years ago, when our first block of stables were built, we purchased our first order of Equine Pure Pellets and we have never returned to using regular shavings since then! I was instantly impressed by the pellets absorbency, dust free quality and cushioning that has been a massive game changer for my team of horses and their comfort in their stables.
